Therapy with me is a transformative journey.
My mission
Hello, I’m Jesse Dickinson, a licensed professional counselor dedicated to helping creative and caring adults and couples break free from self-doubt, fear, and past experiences to awaken hope and courage in their lives.
I understand that you are doing the best you can with the tools you have and the blueprint life gave you.
It’s my aim to honor and invite you to share your story and join me in this meaningful and challenging work of transformation and adventure.
What it’s like to sit with me
Comfortable and welcoming
Whatever you’ve been through, know that you are welcome! I’m confident that with me you will feel at home, comfortable, and safe exploring the complexities that are holding you back. Our sessions will focus on addressing the patterns and the internal narratives that hinder your progress. This collaborative process will open the door to clarity, relief, and confidence so that you can deal with the challenges you’re facing.
Motivating and exploratory
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by trying to shoulder the burdens of others, feeling stuck and frustrated in a current relationship, or whether you are grappling with the nightmare of past experiences, rest assured, I’m here to help you and celebrate your courage to engage the healing work. You can expect genuine curiosity from me as we explore your unique situation together. We’ll work through difficult emotions and uncover avenues of personal growth and healing.
Collaborative and Insightful
I’ll collaborate with you, using evidence-based approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to provide you with practical tools and insights that foster self-acceptance and resilience.
About Jesse Dickinson, MA, LPC
My background
Those I have helped
Oh, you’re still reading, cool. I’m a seasoned therapist with more than ten years of experience.
Throughout my career, I have effectively worked with various clients, from teenagers to adults in their 70s, each with unique backgrounds and challenges. I have been in the trenches with those in family and suicidal crises as well as those seeking help in residential treatment settings.
Struggles I help alleviate
I have a lot of experiences helping people who struggle with these concerns:
- trauma and (sexual) abuse
- (marital) relationship problems
- infidelity and cheating
- physical and sexual assault
- anxiety
- panic attacks and panic disorder
- phobias
- OCD
- not knowing who you are or what you want (identity development)
- avoidance and procrastination
- depression
- bipolar
- borderline personality disorder
- problems with anger
- men’s issues
- pornography
- suicidal despair
Education
I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2014 (a CACREP-accredited program). I believe spirituality, faith, philosophy, and worldview are inextricably linked to our psychological well-being and vice versa. I love helping others reach their own spiritual goals and integrate their faith-values when requested. No, I’m not a priest or anything, and I am sensitive to clients who have very little interest in or have had negative experiences with spirituality and faith communities. I invite you share as much or little as you want about your experiences and goals related to spirituality and faith.
Training and Certifications
I am certified in EMDR therapy and have extensive experience and training in crisis counseling, clinical supervision, DBT and CBT therapy, IFS therapy, and EFT (Emotion Focused Couples Therapy), among other modalities. I have a wide range of strategies that, together, we can adapt to fit your specific needs.
What are my interests outside of therapy?
I have been married to my wife Leslie for 11 years; she’s also a therapist. I always get the question, “How does that work: you two being married as therapists?” It works great! We have fun hanging.
I can sometimes get bored quickly, so I always have a rotating hobby “playlist.” I have been skateboarding since the 90s and grateful to still be able to ride. I love mountain biking, painting miniatures, and board games. I play drums, enjoy reading (more audio books lately), reading comic books, DIY projects – thank you, YouTube – and woodworking. I also enjoy playing with my high-energy French bulldog, Chloe.
I really love the Latin American culture; when I get to practice my Spanish (especially abroad), I get excited.
